MAY I respond to Mr Fentiman’s article of 5th June. My name is Julie Tranter and I live in Surrey.
However, my dear friend and her family live in Wanstead so I frequently visit the ‘village’.
I even stay over so can honestly say I have savoured ‘village life’ both night and day.
I must point out that I am a cockney! OH MY.. what has come over me….. I have let the cat out of the bag and disclosed my heritage!!!!!).
I must never visit my parents who reside in East Ham (off all places!!!!!!) again, I must cut off all ties with relations and friends and conform to ‘Surrey living’.
WHAT UTTER NONSENSE MR FENTIMEN SPEAKS.
It was interesting this morning when original members of the D-Day landing in Dunkirk were interviewed by the TV; a band of both men and women who we should be eternally grateful to and oh so very proud of.
However, SHOCK, HORROR, a few actually spoke with cockney accents ………….. HAVE THEY GONE STARK STARING MAD!!!!!
Back to the ‘Village’. I am sure it can cope with a pie-and-mash shop as it seems to cope very well with other migrants.
Sellers of the Big Issue adorn the village adding that special touch of country life; mothers beg with their children from passing ‘villagers’ and ‘homeless villagers’ lie in shop doorways occasionally with their sleeping bags for comfort!!!
As for Winston Churchill, he would have been proud to represent the East End. Mr Fentimen you should be ashamed of yourself and perhaps indulge in some piedophilia yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
