ARTS Council England has presented a special award to Debden Park High School in recognition of the its commitment to excellence in arts education.

The Artsmark Gold award is handed down by the council to school’s who demonstrate “a passion for the arts and belief in the power of creativity.”

Headteacher at Debden Park, in Willingale Road Loughton, Christian Cavanagh said: “I’m delighted that the Arts Council has recognised Debden Park’s dynamic arts education programme. Our students have really enjoyed working with all of the professional artists who work with our school, and I’d like to thank all our staff for their hard work in achieving this award.”

Arts Council chief executive Alan Davey said: “Arts Council England is committed to great art for everyone and we believe that the earlier children are creatively inspired, the more likely they are to have a lifelong engagement with art.”
