Chaos will ensue at Mornington Hall from next Wednesday, as the Chingford Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society (CADOS) present Ken Ludwig’s hilarious farce Lend Me A Tenor.
Set in 1934, the plays follows superstar tenor Tito Merelli as he prepares for his performance for the Cleveland Opera Company’s 10th anniversary gala event.
Unfortunately moments before the show, Merelli’s wife mistakes an autograph-hunter for her husband’s secret lover and leaves him, our distraught star is accidentally given a double dose of tranquillisers and passes out and company manager Henry Saunders is forced to come up with a drastic soloution.
With a cast of four men, four women and six doors, what follows is veritable romp of mistaken identity, double entendres, innuendoes and dramatic entrances and exits.
Director Bob Burrow says: “We don’t ask that you ‘lend us a tenor’; lending your eyes and ears will be enough.”
Lend Me A Tenor runs at Mornington Hall, The Green Walk, North Chingford, from Wednesday, June 17, until Saturday, June 20. Tickets: 020 8529 2123 (£7.50/£6.50 for seniors on Wednesday, June 17)
