A STAFF library at Whipps Cross University Hospital has received funding for an additional 100 electronic journals.
Health workers will be able to borrow the journals, which provide training for nurses, for free.
Library Manager Angela Head said: “We recently received funding from NHS London for additional titles, which is great news. We are continuing to build the collection of full texts which are in addition to nationally purchased titles.
“On this occasion, we have focused on titles which are of interest to nurses and allied health professionals like Journal for Nurses in Staff Development and Journal of Nursing Care Quality.
“The library is also building up a small collection of material on helping to balance the demands between work and other areas of life. We have added books on sports, exercise, cooking and family relationships, as well as fitness DVDs.
“All of the titles on loan from the library are available to all staff, from porters to physicians and we have launched the new collection of more recreational or lifestyle titles as part of a new library campaign at Whipps called Fit 4 Life.
“We are encouraging as many members of staff to use the facilities and make the most of borrowing the new books – especially as we loan them for free.
“The more people who use the service, the more likely we are to receive greater funding in the future and this means we can invest further in growing the collection.”
