THE queen's Birthday Honours list has been released and some of the borough's highest achieving residents have been recognised.
Bernice Burton, a nurse of Walthamstow, was given an MBE for her services to the NHS in east London, while Natalia Dawkins, of Leyton, was honoured for her services to vulnerable women.
Danny Lafayette, of Chingford and Violet Gostling, of Leytonstone also received MBEs.
Miss Gostling was recognised specifically for her work with the community in Waltham Forest while Mr Lafayette was honoured for his work as knife crime policy adviser and chairman, at The Network in the Home Office.
Other east Londoners honoured include Dr Elizabeth Sidwell and Alwen Williams, who received an OBEs, and Paul Grant, who was knighted.
