MORE than £4,300 was raised for life-limited youngsters at a charity opera performance.
Swedish sopranos Malin Myrstad and Amelie Klingspor starred in a glamorous evening at All Saints Church, Inmans Row, Woodford Green, in aid of nearby Haven House Children's Hospice.
The audience was treated to a beautiful and entertaining selection of songs from opera and musicals featuring sublime performances by baritone Laurence Kubiak and tenor Mark Baster and accompaniment by pianist Simon Marlow, cellist Denise Watson and organist Rory Thorndyke.
The evening was organised by Haven House trustee Ros Edwards to raise funds for service users at the centre.
She said: “It was an exceptional evening with lots of thrills and which left everyone asking when the next one would be.
"We are extremely grateful to the performers and those who worked behind the scenes, and to all those who so generously supported the evening.”
The audience came from near and far with some even travelling from Manchester and Hastings. Everyone showed their appreciation of the high standard of the performances with a standing ovation which seemed to go on and on.
Those involved in the event worked and performed for free which meant that all the proceeds would go to the Woodford Green-based children’s charity.
