RUBBISH has been banished at St John’s School’s, Epping, after a successful clean-up task.
Pupils at the School, in Tower Road, have been taking part in The Big Tidy Up, as part of Keep Britain’s Tidy’s campaign for a cleaner environment.
Crowds of students took part in the tidying up of their grounds, and afterwards moved out into the town for a community clean-up on the streets.
Year 7 progress leader Mary Cryer said: “We have got a year 7 eco-committee, we call them the eco-warriors, and they collected rubbish from the town. They were really excited so they involved the whole year group. They found all kinds of bits and pieces.
“The idea is we are trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We are trying to make sure people think about recycling and dropping rubbish, and how important is it to care for the environment. Also it’s good for them to be involved in the community. It was so successful we will be doing it again later in the year.”
