A BANKING service for students has been set up at a Leytonstone school.
School Money, run in partnership with NatWest, was set up at Tom Hood Community Science College, in Terling Close, as a way to help pupils manage their money.
Year 10 business studies students have been working with a local branch of the bank to start the service, run by and for students.
It allows them to open a real bank account suitable and to save by bringing money into school to pay into their account.
The School Money service is aimed at providing the foundation for managing personal finances.
Banking officers are also on hand to help pupils to complete an application forms, advise on opening accounts and provide information such as interest rates.
The school is also running a "MoneySense" programme through the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The scheme aims to support young people aged 11 to 18 in learning how to manage their personal finances.
It covers such basics of managing money on a daily basis and also how to run a business.
