MORE than 1,000 pupils were given a hard hitting message at an event to help them deal with crime.
Youngsters from schools across the district took part in the interactive safety scenarios which showed them how to tackle dangers they may come across in everyday life and prevent them from becoming involved in crime.
Crucial Crew, organised by Epping Forest Police, ran for two weeks throughout June for children aged ten to 11.
Superintendent Simon Williams said: "Crucial Crew is a fun way to prepare children to remain safe in a variety of emergency situations and to be aware of dangers they are likely to encounter as they advance through life.
"Messages are conveyed through interactive role play allowing children to react to the problems they encounter and to learn how to make the correct choices about their personal safety."
