GOLFERS raised nearly £600 for charity at an annual event organised by the district council.
Councillors, officers and guests took to the fairways at Chigwell Golf Club to help the Waltham Abbey branch of the Alzheimer's Society, which is Council Chairman Penny Smith's nominated charity for the year.
Strawberries and lemonade came as a welcome refreshment to contestants at the half way stage.
The winner of the day, with a score of 34 points, was David Clifton from the Housing Directorate who was presented with a shield for his efforts.
