FORMER employees came together for the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the former De La Rue and National Plastics factory.
The former factory, in Walthamstow Avenue, Walthamstow, provided thousands of jobs and had a worldwide reputation for quality products.
It also produced plastic parts for grenades to help the war effort through two world wars.
Known as Avenue Works, it was built in 1936 on a greenfield site with school playing fields on one side and the River Ching and sports ground on the other.
On June 10, a blue plaque was put up at its former site by the Plastics Historical Society.
