EAGER young newshounds got a chance to find out the stories behind the news when they quizzed a Guardian reporter.

Children at Chapel End Infants School, in Beresford Road, Walthamstow, met with news correspondent Daniel Binns to ask him about life working in a busy newsroom.

Daniel, who works mainly for the Wanstead and Woodford Guardian, told the pupils of how the newspaper is produced, and the hectic rush of finding and writing news stories.

Questions included "Are your articles true?", "Where do you get news from?" and "Why do your sports reporters go to football matches when they can just watch them on TV"?

Daniel said: "Even though the pupils were quite young they asked some very intelligent and remarkably perceptive questions.

"It was great to see so many youngsters who were really interested in their local area and the world around them.

"They were all very enthusiastic and well behaved. They were a credit to their school."
