MORE than a dozen jobs have been safeguarded at a popular bar after its stricken parent company was bought out.

The future of Bar Room Bar, in Wanstead High Street, was thrown into doubt when the London-wide chain went into administration in April, but staff have now been told their jobs are safe after new buyers were found.

The buy-out has rescued 200 jobs at the chain's 10 bars across London, with 13 of those at the Wanstead branch.

Rufus Hall, Chief Executive of the bar's new owner The Orchid Group, said: “Acquiring these ten profitable unbranded and branded businesses is absolutely in line with our strategy to lead sector consolidation.

"This is an exciting day for Orchid as this represents the first of many acquisitions to come, thus enabling us to continue to leverage our position as a leading player in the managed sector”.
