CHILDREN were in the spot-light at a dance festival held for primary schools across the district.

Pupils from ten different schools took part in the event, held at Debden Park High School in Loughton and organised by the West Essex School Sports Partnership.

The show is held every year for primary pupils to have the opportunity to perform on a proper stage with lighting.

Dances were performed to different music including Abba, The Pussycat Dolls and High School Musical.

Team Leader for Expressive Arts at Debden school, Sarah Mann said: "It's a chance for them all to come together and watch each other, which often they don't get to do.

"It's just for primary schools, although we also had a group from Debden Park and Davenant to give the younger pupils something to aspire to.

"They have been learning the dances at school and it was a fantastic event and a great success.

"Two of the groups performed pieces which were put together by the pupils themselves and all the kids got a great buzz from it. They were so excited and they put a lot of effort into their costumes and we ran it like a proper performance."
