A PENSIONER has died after being hit by a police car on an emergency call.
A marked Vauxhall Astra collided with the 72-year-old pedestrian in the Ridgeway, Chingford, shortly after 1pm today.
The man was taken to the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel, and pronounced dead nearly four hours later.
Police believe they know the identity of the deceased but he has yet to be formally identified. A post mortem is expected to take place in the next few days.
The Met Police Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) is investigating and the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
