HORDES of parents have withdrawn their children from Snaresbrook Primary School following an outbreak of swine flu.
The confirmation has come after tests were carried out on an un-named student at the school in Meadow Walk, Wanstead, last week.
Ashley Gunstock, whose ten-year-old son attends the school, said: "My wife took my son their this morning and said it was really eerie as it seems a lot of parents have decided to take their children away from the problem, which is their prerogative.
"I'm sure if there weren't enough children there the school would close however.
"I believe it's no pandemic and that the school should remain open.
"My boy is there and I believe it's probably better to get it now when it's summer than later when it would be more difficult to deal with it."
He added: "I'm not worried about my son.
"He's a strong, healthy boy and there's all sorts of things flying around and we can't shield him from everything."
The news comes after a woman from the Ilford area was diganosed with swine flu last month.
It is believed she had been on holiday in America.
The symptoms are similar to those of common flu, including fever, aching limbs, coughs and sneezes.
