MORE than 40 girls slept in a village hall to raise money for charity and help break a world record.
The Brownies from Epping, Coopersale and Waltham Abbey all came together at Stonards Hill Scout Hut in Epping to take part in the Giant Sleepover 2009.
The annual event is held across the world with groups or clubs taking part to raise money for charity.
Last year 11,900 children helped break the world record, and participants this year are now waiting to find out if it has been broken again.
The girls all bought in £1 which will be donated to the Railway Children charity which helps homeless children.
They were kept busy for the weekend and made miniature pillows, photo frames, dream catchers and door handles.
Holly Smith, 8 said: "We made pillows which we put stuffing in and oil that made it smell nice. Then we put photos of our family in the frames we made.
"We met new Brownies from the other groups and they were all really nice and we hope we can see them again."
Alice Brock, 8 said: "We stayed up until 10pm and loved staying up late. But we woke all the adults up at 5am."
