A TRAINING programme aimed at getting disadvantaged people into work is being rolled out in Waltham Forest this summer.
Personal Best is linked to the 2012 Games and run jointly by the London Development Agency (LDA) and Learning & Skills Council (LSC).
It provides classes and individual support and aims to build self-esteem through work experience as well as delivering transferable skills through nationally recognised qualifications.
More than 1,000 Londoners have taken part in the scheme in 23 London boroughs so far.
Geoff Newton, LDA director, said: "Personal Best can be a truly life changing experience for people in Waltham Forest.
“We have already seen participants turn their fortunes around by achieving their first job or qualification.”
The scheme comes to Waltham Forest next month.
An open day will be held on July 29 at Chesnuts House, 398 Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
Residents interested in participating in Personal Best should email Angela Riviere at angela.riviere@walthamforest.gov.uk or call 020 7521 4311.
