DETAILS of a £1.7 million scheme to improve George Lane for shoppers have been revealed.
If approved, the project - which would be jointly funded by Redbridge Council and Transport for London - will involve a range of new measures to make the area safer and more pleasant for visitors to use.
The plans, published in a council document, include the installation of new CCTV cameras, benches, lighting and other 'street furniture' in the area - together with the re-laying of pavements.
Safety modifications would also be made to the entrances of adjoining streets.
Councillors will decide whether to help fund the scheme at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday evening.
