He took time out of his busy schedule, including a stint in a west-end production of the hit show Chicago to make a visit to the town on Sunday (June 28) Over a thousand people flocked to the Town Mead Leisure park over the weekend to experience some of the activities on offer.
These including pleasure helicopter flights over the town, a full fun fair, stalls, a classic car show and much more.
The main attraction, however was on Sunday, when Mr Springer acted as an umpire for a baseball game between the Essex Arrows and the Southampton Mustangs.
He made a stylish entrance alongside Waltham Abbey Town Mayor Ricki Gadsby on the back of an American Fire truck before getting on with the game.
Cllr Gadsby, who hails from Brooklyn said: "It was a fabulous day, he was a very nice person and he really seemed to enjoy himself.
"It was a wonderful experience, especially making our arrival- if I know he's in town again i'll definitely give him a call!"
