SECONDARY school students have showed off their artistic talent with an end of year exhibition.

The GCSE students, who attend Leytonstone School, in Colworth Road, displayed their project work at the exhibition on June 23.

Barry Charles, head of art at the school said: “GCSE art students have excelled themselves again in 2009.

“It is estimated that more than 95 per cent of candidates will achieve an A* to C grade as a reward for their hard work.”

He added that the students' artwork was inspired by various school visits, including trips to the Sir John Soane Museum, in central London, as well as Kew Gardens and the Tate Britain.

Mr Charles said: “The exam board has reported that the contextual and sequential development of individual candidates' work are the qualities that stand out in this centre.

“This year's GCSE Art candidates have been amazing and I wish students the very best for the future.”
