A LOTTERY scam is operating in Walthamstow, a concerned resident has warned.

Lynne Galbraith, of Chingford, received a call from a man telling her she had won £250,000 on the Australian lottery, which she had never entered.

The man told her to collect her winnings she needed to send £250 to an address in Walthamstow, but she refused.

She said: “This man sounded very convincing and could easily con a pensioner.”

The Met Police advises anybody who believes they are a victim of a lottery scam should call the Office of Fair Trading on 08457 224499.
