COUNCIL leader Chris Robbins has vowed to make Waltham Forest a better place following the publication of a Government survey showing the borough's residents are among the least satisfied with their area in London.
The national survey, carried out by the Communities and Local Government department, saw half a million people asked how they felt about their quality of life, council services, and anti-social behaviour.
Waltham Forest came fifth bottom overall out of the London boroughs,(ahead of Islington, Harrow, Hounslow and Barking & Dagenham) with residents giving an approval rating of just 59.9 per cent.
The borough had the second lowest satisfaction with the way the council runs things (39.3 per cent), the second lowest satisfaction with concert halls and theatres and fourth lowest satisfaction with parks and open spaces.
The percentage of people saying council services provide value for money was also the third lowest (26.2 per cent).
Cllr Robbins said: “"The issues highlighted in this survey are valid and ones which I consider to be top of the council's priority list - to get our streets clean and make our streets safer.
“We will be doing more over the coming year."
"We will be closely analysing these results to see where and how we need to improve our performance but we're determined to make Waltham Forest a better place for everyone to live in."
The top five London boroughs overall were Richmond (92.1 per cent), Kensington and Chelsea(86.2 per cent) Wandsworth (85.7 per cent), City of Westminster (83.4 per cent) and Merton (79.2 per cent).
