REDBRIDGE Council has decided to temporarily increase the number of its anti-social behaviour staff during the warm summer months.

From June to August extra workers will be on call for most of the night, amid expectations of an upturn in noisy parties as temperatures rise.

The authority's anti-social behaviour team will also be available until 4am on Friday and Saturdays, compared to their usual 2am finish.

Kathy Nixon, the council's chief community safety officer said: "I hope this service will make a major contribution to the improvement in the quality of life of residents who are plagued by excessive and unacceptable levels of noise caused by inconsiderate and anti-social neighbours.

"These measures will send a clear message to noisy neighbours who should understand that we are determined to firmly deal with anti-social behaviour and unreasonable levels of noise."

To report a noise nuisance from 9am to 5pm between Monday and Friday call 8554 5000.

The out of hours service team can be contacted on 8478 4679 from 5pm to 1am Sunday to Thursday and from 12pm to 4am on Fridays and Saturdays.

There will be two staff working then instead of the usual one.
