WOMEN taking part in the Epping Forest Race for Life are being urged to warm up for the event by detoxing their wardrobe.
So far, 3,100 women have signed up to walk, jog or run 5k at North Weald Airfield on July 15.
Now, organisers are asking them to carry out a 'wardrobe work-out' before the race by sorting and bagging up unwanted clothes and accessories.
Participants will be able to take their clothes to a Donation Station at the airfield on the day, helping to raise extra funds for Cancer Research UK on top of their sponsorship money.
A recent survey by Cancer Research UK revealed that 78 per cent of people admit to having clothes in their wardrobe that they never wear.
Lucy Hynes, Event Manager for Epping said: "It's a quick and easy way to help fund vital research. The Donation Station is easy to find at the Race for Life event, just look for the blue marquee and bright pink flags.
"The items donated will be sold at local Cancer Research UK shops, where stocks are currently running low."
TV presenter Lorraine Kelly is backing the Donation Station drive and said: "Now the summer is here, it’s the perfect opportunity to clear out your wardrobe and take your unneeded clothes, bags and accessories to the Donation Station."
