PROPOSALS to "transform" the shopping district of South Woodford were approved by the council's cabinet last night.
The scheme, which will see £1.7million of cash pumped into new seating, lighting, paving and CCTV cameras in the George Lane area, now looks set to go ahead after councillors agreed to contribute £50,000 towards the plans.
The rest of the cash - £1.65million - is being provided by Transport for London (TfL).
However the plans still need to go before Woodford's area two committee on Tuesday July 21 before work can begin.
The exact details of where the seating, paving, cameras and lighting will go have not yet been revealed.
