THE death of singing sensation Michael Jackson has made international headlines, but 5,500 miles from Neverland one fan is feeling the effects more than most.
While millions mourn the death of the foremost icon of showbiz, a dedicated follower who turned his idolisation into a career has flown to the US to offer his respects.
Professional impersonator Navi has been dubbed the "living incarnation of the king of pop" and attracts massive audiences to his sell-out shows.
The 36-year-old, from Ilford, is so uncanny he has even been used as a decoy for waiting paparazzi and this week appeared on national television to describe the "massive" effect of his idol's untimely demise.
He told BBC's The One Show: "I don't think I've taken it in yet. It is like a family member as close to a mum, dad, brother or sister dying.
"I do this for the love. I'm a Michael fan first and foremost so anything I do has to be in context of portraying Michael Jackson in the best light."
Navi's adulation was finally cemented when he attended the momentous Bad tour in 1988, where he was mesmerised by the singer's live routine.
Navi's family, and friends at Valentines High School, in Cranbrook Road, teased him for seeking to emulate the former Jackson Five star, but nothing could prevent him realising his dream.
"I've had a few operations [to look more like Michael Jackson] because I'm dedicated and if I'm going to portray Michael Jackson I'm going to do it in the best possible and most defined way," he added.
"Even recently he asked me to do the visuals for his upcoming concert. I've travelled around the world with him and to Neverland."
One thing is for certain, as long as Navi is strutting his stuff the spirit of Michael Jackson will be alive and jiving for many years to come.
