A MAN is still fighting for his life after being attacked with acid and stabbed in the back.
If he survives, it is feared he could lose his sight.
He is undergoing a series of tests within the next 24 hours which could be crucial.
Police are appealling for witnesses following the attack in Marchant Road, yesterday (Thursday) at 2am.
Officers are hunting for clues and nearby roads remain taped off.
Police currently do not believe the attack was gang related.
The victim, a Danish national of Asian background, 24, was walking along the road when he was approached by a group.
They then threw acid over him causing serious burns to his face and chest, before stabbing him twice in the back.
The gang were reportedly wearing masks and gloves so that they would not be burned with the acid.
He managed to escape his attackers and raise the alarm and an ambulance was called.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Waltham Forest CID on 8345 3146 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
