Honey Lane has been the scene of a number of high speed crashes in recent years, Jane Allen, from Margherita Road, Waltham Abbey was left in a coma for four days after the motorbike she was riding was hit by a Jeep on Honey Lane.
Miss Allen said she was saddened but not suprised by news of the crash.
She said: "They really need some speed limits up there, its people coming off the M25 too quickly and rushing down there. Drivers have to look at the distances between lamposts before they realise that the speed limit has changed from 60mph to 30mph."
"I'm also suprised that the 30mph speed limit has not been pushed further down that road, towards the Crooked Mile, it is one of the worst roads in the area. I think there needs to be a lot more awareness from drivers about how dangerous it really is."
