CUTE degus will be on display at a Pet Store open day this weekend in Chingford.
Degus are Guinera Pig-like creatures which originate from Chile and are unable to digest sugar, they have only become available as pets in Britain within the last 50 years.
Animal lovers are invited to come along to the Chingford-branch of Pets at Home to witness the furry creatures for themselves.
Store manager, Joanne Lewis, said: “After all the enquiries we've had, we wanted to give customers the chance to come in and learn about degus from our experts in a dedicated session.
“All ages are welcome to come along as it will education in a fun and interactive way. There will be a chance to hold or stroke the degus as well as learning about their feeding routines, habitat and to care for them responsibly.
“The degu is one of the most affectionate and loving animals you can own and are a fantastic pet, most suited to older children and adults.”
The store in Corktree Retail Park in Hall Lane, Chingford, is holding the open day on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 from 11am.
