ONE of the district's largest entertainment venues has had a number of restrictions placed on its licence after a mass brawl broke out at a previous event.
More than 600 people had to be dispersed, at the Academy, in Langston Road, Loughton, when fighting broke out at its Summer of Love party on December 31 2008 with one bouncer losing an eye in the melee.
Following a number of complaints about the event, The Academy has now agreed with Essex Police to keep a door log with details of all doormen.
It has also agreed to have no more multiple DJ events, and to have private parties by invitation only.
Essex Police had also complained about an intended change of premises supervisor at the Academy after it discovered their proposed candidate, Ryan Foley, only had experience of managing small bars and restaurants and had only gained his licence in May last year.
They withdrew this complaint following the agreement to the licence changes and Mr Foley was accepted as the new supervisor.
