A MAN who was attacked in a South Woodford street last night (Sunday)is in a "stable" condition in hospital.
More details have emerged this morning about the alleged assault in Pulteney Road, which happened at around 7.45pm.
Police now say the man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered multiple injuries, mainly to the head.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance service said he was treated and stabilised at the scene, and was conscious when he was rushed to hospital.
The attack saw the closure of parts of George Lane and the surrounding area for several hours last night.
Police are expected to release more details about the incident later today.
Some residents have told the Guardian the incident may have involved someone from nearby Victoria House, which is a residential home for people with learning difficulties.
