A MAN is still fighting for his life, two weeks after a vicious street attack.
The 24-year-old remains in a critical condition in hospital after being doused with acid and stabbed twice in the back.
He is in a coma and could lose his sight if he survives.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack and has been bailed to return in September.
No other arrests have yet been made, although the attack is believed to have been carried out by a group.
The victim, a Danish national of Asian background, was walking along Marchant Road, Leytonstone, at about 2am on July 2 when he was approached by a gang.
They then threw acid on him, causing serious burns to his face and chest, before stabbing him.
He managed to escape his attackers and an ambulance was called.
The gang were reportedly wearing masks and gloves to protect themselves from being burned.
Police are keeping an open mind about motive.
The victim's family have now been informed.
Anyone with information is urged to call the incident room on 8345 3015 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
