A NEW dementia day care centre which seeks to help people suffering from the disease to re-learn skills has been opened at Ashlar House in Epping.
The centre is also designed to give loved ones of dementia sufferers a break from caring and the chance for them to meet other carers.
Epping Mayor Janet Hedges cut the ribbon on the new facility in Ashlar House Care Home, located behind St Margaret's Hospital on Wednesday (July 8).
She said: “It is really encouraging to see a quality dementia day care facility opening because there is such a vital need for this type of service in the community for both guests and carers."
Over 750,000 people in the UK have a dementia and more than half have Alzheimer’s disease.
