LEYTON Sixth Form College is set to secure funding from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
The LSC placed a moratorium on its building programme earlier this year after demand exceeded funds available.
But after campaigning, which included help from Leyton and Wanstead MP Harry Cohen, the Essex Road college has been selected to receive funds to improve facilities.
The LSC is now working with the college to decide the overall cost and the size of the LSC contribution.
The total cost of the improvements is expected to reach between £25 million and £40million.
About £5 million to £10 million should be provided by the college and other sources, but the main cost would come from the LSC.
However, nearly £6 million of funding remains in doubt for the Cathall Construction Skills Centre, intended to train people for jobs on the Olympic site.
