PLANS to alter pavements and introduce 'no waiting' zones around George Lane have been unveiled by Redbridge Council.
The proposals, which would be introduced on the Railway pub side of the busy South Woodford street, have been suggested by officers in an attempt to ease journey times for buses.
If the scheme is approved by the council's area two committee and by the public in a consultation, the pavement at the junction with Chigwell Road will be cut back, to allow more movement for turning buses.
Meanwhile, the pavement will be extended at the junction with Cowslip Road in an attempt to make it easier for pedestrians wanting to cross the road.
'No waiting at any time' restrictions will also be introduced on the corners with Pulteney Road and Kenwood Gardens, as well as next to Woodford Baptist Church in George Lane, in a bid to make it easier for buses to navigate the narrow road.
The plans come alongside further council proposals to "regenerate" George Lane as a whole, with new lighting, seating, paving and CCTV cameras.
