A GROUP of cadets were guests at a Buckingham Palace garden palace alongside HRH Prince Charles.
Six boys and girls from the C691 Walthamstow Combined Cadet Division of the St John Ambulance unit were nominated and visited Wellington Barracks and the palace yesterday.
They rubbed shoulders with many other uniformed organisations including the Scouts and promoted the skills they have been learning at their weekly meetings, such as first aid and communication with the deaf and visually impaired.
The event was organised as part of Project YOU (Youth Organisations Uniform) which promotes the wide range of opportunities for weekly activities and volunteering available for children, young people and adults in uniformed organisations in London.
Division president Alan Clark said: “I was really proud of the them. They are brilliant kids and to arrange for them to to there, in what is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, was really worth it.
“They really enjoyed it and I would like to thank all the headteachers of their various schools for allowing them to go.”
