A MAN has been arrested after being shot by armed police.
A car thought to be linked to an earlier shooting in Leyton was stopped by officers from the CO19 specialist firearms unit in Elmore Road, Leytonstone at about 2.40am yesterday (Saturday).
During the stop, a 28-year-old was shot and remains in a stable condition at Whipps Cross University Hospital following his arrest.
A 27-year-old man was also arrested at about 3.45am yesterday but has now been bailed.
The arrests were made in connection with another shooting at 2.15am on Saturday and a loaded firearm has been recovered.
Two men became involved in an argument in Abbotts Park Road, Leyton and another two men subsequently joined the dispute.
A 29-year-old man was shot in the street following the argument and left the scene on foot.
He is also in hospital in a stable condition.
Witnesses heard several shots being fired and called police.
Two cars were also spotted leaving the scene.
