The Sikh study group at the Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College in Chigwell marked the anniversary of the slaughter at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, which left 300 dead.
The forum was set up after the clash between the Indian Army and Sikh sepearatist in the Punjab in 1984, and aims to maintain a good relationships between the communities.
At their silver jubilee event, held at the college on Roding Lane last week, the attendees read prayers and discussed how life had moved on since the attacks.
Chairman of the forum Mr Baldev Singh Sabar said: "Although they had not forgotton the suffering of families had lost loved ones, with many families wiped out altogether, and no-one held responsible thereafter by the Indian authorities, that the glass was half full, not half empty."
