A CHARITY five-a-side football tournament has been held in honour of a man who was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
Keen football fan Michael Mensah, 26, of Hainault Road, was struck by a van while visiting a friend in Brighton in 2006.
The five-a-side tournament was held in his memory at the Score Centre, in Leyton on July 11.
It raised money for The Dream Factory, which grants wishes for sick children.
A total of six teams took part, including “Funky Monkeys” and “Mensah All-Stars”, who eventually won the tournament, captained by Mr Mensah's younger brother John.
Teams gathered at the nearby King William IV pub for further fund raising, followed by a presentation evening at Leytonstone Social Club.
The evening included music from DJ Danny C and band Revolver, as well as a sports-themed auction and raffle, raising more than £300.
Prizes for the raffle were donated by Fulham FC, Chelsea FC, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Cristiano Ronaldo.
