AN all-day music event is to take place in Leyton this Sunday (July 26).
Featuring a total of eight bands, the event will raise money for the Stairway to Heaven Memorial Trust.
The trust was set up to remember those killed in an accident at Bethnal Green Underground station in 1943 and aims to raise funds for a memorial at the station.
It was being used as an air raid shelter at the time and as a crowd of people surged forward to get inside, someone tripped, causing 173 deaths and more than 90 injuries.
Featuring face painting and refreshments, the event starts at noon and finishes at 10pm.
It will be held at the Coach and Horses pub, in High Road Leyton and entrance is £3.
Organiser and MC Ron Wortley-Millek said: “I feel this is an important musical charity event.”
All proceeds will go to the Stairway to Heaven Memorial Trust.
