A MAN has appeared in court accused of breaking the collar bone and ribs of a baby.
Daniel Lodge, 23, of George Road, Chingford, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm and one of assault by causing bruising to the child’s head and face.
He is also accused of failing to seek medical assistance for the baby.
He denies the charges.
Lodge appeared alongside Emma Donne, 23, of Thorpe Road, Leyton, who is charged with child cruelty for allegedly not calling an ambulance to treat the baby’s injuries, which she also denies.
All charges relate to injuries sustained by the baby, who cannot be named for legal reasons, on or before January 7 last year.
A jury was sworn in today and the trial will start tomorrow (Tuesday).
