A WOMAN has been forced to live with a noise nightmare as the council has failed to act, it was claimed.
The woman and her husband, who wish to remain anonymous for fear of repercussions, claim their neighbours begin parties at 2am, which often last until 6am.
She said: “We live in [Leytonstone] and since the closure of Lincolns Pub, the noise problem seems to have transferred.
“We've been woken up at 2.30am when a party started with a room full of people jumping to loud music, making the whole house shake.”
She claimed she was told that because of the late hour at which the noise occurs, the council's Noise Team have not taken action, even though the problem has been going on for a year.
"On Friday night we spoke to the Noise Team," the woman said.
"We called Waltham Forest at 2.37am and an officer called us back about 15 minutes later.
"They said they were based at Blackhorse Road, which was too far away to get to Leytonstone and back for their 3am finish.
"‘No point going’ were their exact words."
She added: “This gives a neighbour like ours licence to make any amount of noise at even more anti-social hours."
She now fears she may have to move house in order to escape the problem and believes new tenants may be subjected to the same nuisance.
The council has confirmed the problem is being investigated.
The Guardian is awaiting a full statement.
