TWO take-aways in Chingford have received awards for their high quality fish and chips.
The Fish'n'Chick'n shops, in Hatch Lane and Chingford Mount Road, are among only four per cent of fish shops in the country to achieve the Seafish Friars Quality Award.
The award is given to fish and chip shops that meet the tough Sea Fish Industry Authority requirements for fish and chip quality and service, as well as modern, clean and well equipped premises.
Fish'n'Chick'n managers Alf Nurettin, of Chingford Mount Road, and John Stubbington, of Hatch Lane, were presented with their awards earlier this month by seafish quality advisor Jim Hyam.
John Harman, seafish development director, said the company was one of the best frying businesses in the country.
He added: "Congratulations to Fish'n'Chick'n on its fantastic achievement.
"Safety, hygiene and quality are absolute necessities in the food chain and Fish'n'Chick'n has clearly demonstrated its commitment to promoting high standards and delivering top quality fish and chips to the British public."
The company has 28 shops in the south east and is expanding rapidly. It has previously had successes in the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Competition.
Managing director Hugh Lipscombe said: "Through the hard work and dedication of our staff I am pleased to announce that Fish'n'Chick'n has achieved the Seafish Friars Quality Award.
"This has only been achieved through the endeavour of all our staff from the managers to the customer assistants and from office to shop level.
"I am deeply proud that we are thought to be one of the top companies in our sector."
