A DOORMAN at Ilford Cineworld has been caught working without a security licence.
The unnamed man was found to be operating without a standard Security Industry Authority (SIA) card during a borough-wide sweep of bars and entertainment premises by the police and council officers earlier this month.
A total of 16 other doormen were also checked during the operation, all of whom had the correct licence.
The doorman was given a warning by police, while the SIA are still considering "the appropriate course of action with regards to the company."
A police spokeswoman said: "Redbridge police continues to work to keep licensed premises safe.
"We enjoy a good partnership with the SIA and their expertise is invaluable. We look forward to further such operations in the near future."
Cllr Vanessa Cole, the council's cabinet member for community safety, said it was an example of the "robust action" the authority has been taking against unlicensed doormen.
A spokesman for the chain said: "At Cineworld we take the onsite security at all our cinemas exceptionally seriously and are committed to acting responsibly and within all set security guidelines.
"We have been made aware of the council's recent visit to Cineworld Ilford and are currently investigating the claim".
The operation took place on Friday, July 10.
