A LIVE music event has been held in aid of charity.

Featuring performances from nine bands, the event, held on July 26 at the Coach and Horses pub, raised a total of £315 for the Stairway to Heaven charity and was attended by about 100 people.

The charity aims to fund a memorial to be erected at Bethnal Green Station in honour of 173 people who died there during an accident in 1943.

Bands taking part included Steve King and the CHBJ boys, Bad Town Blues, Steve Cook band, Resigned, Bad Hair Day, Ricky Depot and the A60s, Jimmy Dublin and Unfinished Business, Davide Sanna and his Friendly Ensemble, and The Customtones.

The event, which also included face painting for children, finished at about 9pm with a “blues jam”.
