RESIDENTS will have the chance to have a first look at new wheelie bins and kitchen caddies which will be introduced in September, at roadshows being held across the district.
The district council is preparing for weekly food and garden recycling collections, which aim to allow people to recycle more than half of everything they throw away.
Environment Portfolio Holder Councillor Mary Sartin said: “This is a big step for the recycling service. From September all the food waste that currently rots in landfill will be diverted to recycling.
"We will be collecting food waste weekly, mixed with garden waste and it will become raw material for compost.”
The new service aims to reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Roadshows will be taking place at locations across the district up until September 13.
