COMMUTERS are advised to find another way into work as a 48-hour strike by rail union staff continues today.
It will affect the overground services on the Chingford to Liverpool Street line, as well as trains throughout London and Essex, including routes to Stansted Airport, Southend, Norwich and Colchester.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union and Aslef are all staging the walkout over a pay row with train company National Express East Anglia.
The industrial action is due to end at midnight tonight but the unions are threatening more 48-hour strikes if their demands are not met.
Yesterday's strike caused chaos across the East, thousands of travellers delayed or stranded, with many more commuters staying at home.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "This strike has been caused by greedy National Express bosses who have soaked up £2.5bn in taxpayer subsidies in the past 10 years and who have milked every penny out of this franchise, while treating their staff like dirt."
