A GROUP of amateur golfers have put their swinging skills to the test to raise more than £1,000 for a children’s charity.

More than 20 competitors battled it out over 18 holes at Wanstead Golf Club at the annual Primavera Golf Day.

The golfers also fought it out to win coveted prizes for the longest drive, nearest pin and best chipping and putting during the event - with money raised going to KidsCompany, which provides practical, emotional and educational support for vulnerable inner-city youngsters.

The rest of the cash will go towards supporting the development of talented young golfers in Wanstead.

Deepak Trivedi, of Primavera Financial Partners, South Woodford - which sponsored the event - said: “The prize giving ceremony was conducted by special guest Tom Turner, our very own auctioneer for the day.

“Tom wowed the crowd at last year’s event with his Elvis performances. This year he turned his attention to a Sotheby’s style auction that helped to raise over £1000 for charity.

"The event was won by the graceful and delightful Ed Quinney who ousted the competition with her charm and dazzling strokes.

“The auction included a signed golf shirt from Justin Rose and gift experiences that included hours of recording time in a professional studio.”

Ed Quinney, of Wanstead Golf Club, thanked Mr Caley for his generosity and his continued support of the juniors at the club.”
