The "sing-out" competition needs talented singers of any age who want to pit their talents against each other in front of a panel of judges.
Organised by the Rotary club, the competition is open to everyone who lives within 12 miles of Ongar.
Heats will take place at the Budworth Hall on Saturdays September 12 and 19.
Soloists aged 16 and over, groups of singers (max four) and Choirs of any type are welcome.
Organiser Tony Moore said: "I know that there is a considerable singing talent within our local communities, we want to encourage that and help them to progress further into a career, or take it up as a new hobby."
Finalists will perform on front of a live audience at the “Showcase Concert” on the evening of Saturday September 19.
Further details and application forms may be obtained from Tony Moore tel. 01992 524526 or email him at mooreafg@tiscali.co.uk.
Tickets for the “Showcase Concert”, priced £8 adults and £4 for children, are available from the Budworth Hall and Estate Agents John Sear in the High Street.
